Same standard as our company drivers — the truck being yours does not change what the insurance underwriter looks at.

✓Valid Class A CDL
✓23 years or older
✓1+ year of verifiable OTR experience within the last 3 years
✓No more than 3 moving violations in the last 3 years
✓No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years
✓No DUI, DWI, reckless driving or leaving the scene in the last 5 years
✓Clean FMCSA Clearinghouse record, no active SAP program
✓Valid DOT medical card and ability to pass a DOT drug screen
✓Truck that passes a DOT annual inspection — year limits: NEEDS INPUT

Owner-operator questions

Is there any escrow or deposit to lease on?

No. No escrow account, no security deposit, no buy-in. It is in the lease agreement in writing before you sign — read that section first, we expect you to.

When do I get paid?

Settlements run weekly. NEEDS INPUT: settlement day, and how many days after delivery the paperwork has to be in.

Do you provide the trailer?

We run dry van. NEEDS INPUT: whether the trailer comes at no cost or is rented, and at what weekly rate.

Whose plates and insurance?

NEEDS INPUT: whose authority, plates and IFTA the truck runs under, which coverages we carry, and what is deducted for them.

Is dispatch forced?

NEEDS INPUT: whether an owner-operator can turn a load down, and whether that affects load priority.

What freight do you haul?

General freight, dry food, machinery, equipment, paper products and packaging material across all 48 states. No hazmat.

Do you pay detention?

Yes. $25 per hour after two free hours, up to $150 per day, when the detention procedure is followed.

Can I use your shop?

Yes, we run our own maintenance facility in East Dundee, IL. NEEDS INPUT: labour rate for owner-operator repairs, and whether parts are billed at cost.
